Wallpaper installation, step by careful step

Good installation is mostly decisions made before cutting: where the pattern starts, where it ends, and whether the wall is ready.

Layout

The first drop is placed from the focal point of the room, not the nearest corner. We plan where the final mismatch lands, and how the pattern meets the ceiling line.

Preparation

Walls are checked for soundness, smoothness and suitability. Filling, sanding and primer may be recommended or required by the manufacturer. See installation preparation.

Hanging

  • Batch numbers checked and a roll inspected before cutting
  • Paste method and booking time per the label
  • Pattern matched across seams; seams placed thoughtfully
  • Clean trimming at ceilings, baseboards, trim and openings

What installation does not include by default

Material supply, major wall repair, painting adjacent surfaces and fixture reinstallation are discussed separately so the scope is explicit.

The manufacturer's instructions for your product take priority over general practice, including ours.

Installation questions

Which paper types do you install?

Most residential and commercial wallcoverings, including non-woven, traditional, vinyl and textile products, subject to reviewing the product first.

Do you need primer on the walls?

Often. Many manufacturers specify a wallcovering primer, and it also makes future removal easier.

Who takes off switch plates?

Covers are removed for installation; scope will note reinstallation and any fixtures needing an electrician.

Next step

Tell us about the walls.

Rooms, measurements, the material you are considering and whether anything has to come off first. We will confirm availability for your location and talk through scope.
